"In terms of coordinating an effort, one good direction might be to
take the best ideas from the Roofnet project (the metrics, etc.) and
implement them in a well formed code base such as OLSRd. The Roofnet
code was designed to let us experiment with new ideas, and not with the
intent of defining a routing protocol standard, so it's intentionally
sloppy in a sense. If you're planning to invest a lot of effort, it
might be a good idea to start from something cleaner. Also, the Roofnet
