Q: What does the improved Windows compatibility mean for = users?

A: Two things: for one, SUSE LINUX 9.0 now also supports the NTFS file system used by Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP. Thus, users of
all Windows = versions without any previous Linux experience can
install SUSE LINUX alongside = Windows and migrate gradually.
Secondly, OpenOffice.org version 1.1 provides = even more
functionality and comfort, such as the new macro recorder, the export
of = PDF files, the import and export of all kinds of XML formats,
and the export = of presentations in Flash format. Moreover, the
Windows emulator Wine = enables the operation of a wide range of
   Windows applications in Linux.

Q: Is SUSE LINUX 9.0 also suitable for less experienced computer
   users?

A: Yes, of course. We endeavor to improve the usability with every new version. Recently, a number of usability studies were conducted
with = Linux systems. We have already implemented some of the
improvement suggestions = of these studies in version 9.0. For
example, the start menu was = substantially revised. In the default
installation, the most suitable programs for all = common tasks are
highlighted. These applications are featured in the second = menu
level under an explanatory name. In this way, we assist
inexperienced users in = finding the most import applications.
Moreover, our large application portfolio continues to be available
for professional Linux users. A program = selection especially
adapted to this customer group is offered during the installation. Thus, SUSE LINUX 9.0 provides a perfectly adapted
work environment for = all users, from Linux novices to experienced
   users.
