Bueno, el mensaje creo es bien claro.

compila el kernel mediante make bzImage. Asi creas una imagen del kernel
comprimida. Tambien trata de pasar todo lo que puedas como modulo,
liberando un poco asi el tamaño del kernel.

( al final hace un make install o mejor cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.3 && cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.3 y modifica
tu grub o lilo adecuadamente ).
